Alliance Leveling Guide | About

About

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by.

This blog is a case study, or an experiment really. You’ve probably seen a lot of hype about how certain Warcraft leveling guides will get you to 80 in the least amount of time played. The truth is, a lot of these “reviews” are done by people who have never actually even used the program. Rather, they’re trying to sell you something.

So I’ve decided to pick one and put it to the test. I’m going to be taking a Gnome Mage and leveling Alliance by using one of these guides. Along the way, I’m going to be documenting (screenshots, etc.) my adventures and experiences using the guide of my choosing.

Before I set out, however, there are a few “ground rules” to this experiment that I want to make clear from the get go, so that it’s freely available whenever:

1. I won’t be revealing what server I’ll be on or my character name. This is so that if for some reason this site actually starts getting visitors that I’m not interrupted in game while trying to level.

2. I’m picking a brand new server that I’ve never played on. This means no gold or high level alt/friends anything that can help me in any way.

3. I won’t be joining a guild at this point, but that may change if leveling by itself becomes a little stale.

4. For professions, I’ll only be taking skinning and tailoring. Tailoring will be so I can make bags, skinning will be for extra cash if I can manage it.

5. I do have a girlfriend, and a fairly active social life (mostly thanks to her :P ) so I may not get to play every day. However, I will update on all days that I do play, what I managed to accomplish, how much time I’ve spent, etc.

6. Maximum 4 hours a day of WoW time.

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully I’ll have my first post up very soon.
